Stone Meditations

When meditating with a stone it is important to learn its probabilities. Each stone works with something different. Learn not just its meaning but trace its history as well. For example Bloodstone (Heliotrope) can be traced back over 3,000 years to Babylon. It was known as the "audible oracle" and was said to help when giving warnings of danger. It was used to overcome enemies and banish evil/negativity. The properties of Bloodstone are directly connected with the heart chakra. If you are doing chakra work this would be a good stone to meditate with to help cleanse, purify and revitalize love in this chakra point. When working with stones for healing the body or the mind, Bloodstone is good for purifying the blood, intestines, liver, circulation, immune system, and has been said to help with leukemia. This stone from a spiritual point can be used to heal the ancestral line. It is a grounding stone that can help to balance emotions of irritability, aggressiveness, and impatience.

How to meditate with a stone. In some cases just keeping the stone with you will help to balance you out. For deeper work, sit with the stone in your hand(s) and feel it. Feel where the stone connects with you and your mind, body and spirit. Focus on the stone and sit in silence with it. It is ok if you cannot feel anything just the simple awareness of having the stone can be meditation enough to start the healing process. Remember meditation is a word for a deeper awareness. Focusing your thoughts deeper into the stone thinking about its origins and getting to know it puts you into a meditative state of mind. If you are having trouble with your thoughts clouding your mind use the stone as a concentration point and see how long you can stare at it before your thoughts fade away and there is only the stone. Who will win you or your thoughts?

There are many ways to meditate with stones. You could also lay with the Bloodstone on your heart chakra and just relax or even sleep. We do not have to be doing anything to allow the healing to flow. Bringing the body to a relaxed state is also a form of meditation. Sometimes the pressure of the stone will help you to just relax! You could also place the stones in your bath or shower using the element of water to aide in healing!

Find what works best for you and flow with it! There are many ways to work with stones, but learn what they are first. Stones are so much deeper than just rocks that make up the earth, just as you are so much deeper than just a person who walks the earth!
